The View from Where We Love

by Aberjhani — Read all 107 poems by Aberjhani

I noticed it climbing up—

each blade of grass

burned smooth lips of light

with their own private hue,

all flip sides of jade––

the secret passions of violet,

the erotic invitations of red.

Tucked in the mountain’s sides were

several boulders made from

 that solid light born

of a single shared kiss.

A cave flooded

with thousands of chanting fireflies

glowing your world inside out.

At the bottom

I had started in stone boots

and forty-pound furs.

Half-way up, a pink wind

 warm as an unborn spirit

pressed me teasingly

against a silver tree

of knowledge divine

and shredded from my limbs

the weight and skin of dead beasts.

Wrapped my knees and genitals,

my chest and face

in the cloak of a healing sigh.

Reaching the top

my stone boots crumbled

and I sat with crossed legs

upon a carpet of painted fire,

rainbows pouring through my hands

like sweet wounds of grace

bleeding a naked peace

for all this world to see.

From the raw edge of the summit

I looked out on the sea––

a mahogany ship with giant sails

shaped and colored

like eyes born wide open in Egypt

dreamed of the history of the future.

In the waves beside its hull

floated a rose longer than a whale.

And the rising sun showered gold

upon a cloud of pearl-blue angels.

A dolphin leapt high to kiss

a jewel-titted humming bird.

Within a song-filled field behind the sky

a woman made of joy

danced naked to the sizzling music

of a winged candle of hope.

I sat in love’s fire watching

eagles of lightning lift and scream

your soul out of my chest

and wing their way toward the jubilant dawn.

Aberjhani,

This, my friend, is poetry at its very best. Richly hued, emotionally satisfying, yes. Beautiful piece of work here--thank you for allowing me to read this. BRAVO!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I should admit that I tried to comment on your previous post, but the depth it had was beyond my realms of understanding. I am sufficiently challenged, but may not be adequately educated as a reader. "The View from Where We Love" is the central metaphor of this poem, while the allusions and tropaic expansion of metaphors connecting different races, times give an enlightenment. A very good poem, worth re-reading many more times. I wonder why do you have to center align such a magnificent work?

Dear Aberjhani, this is Poetry that simultaneously humbles and rises the reader's spirit to the greatest heights, such are the magnitude and richness of imagery, expressing the conceptual beauty screened beyond the vision of one who loves. I feel deeply grateful for the privilege of reading you.
Many blessings of Love&Light*

From a quill acquired from the eagle’s nest, and anointed with a drop of wisdom, – polished with the flannel of imagination, – and ink powder diluted in the fountain of beauty “The View from Where We Love” was written to be delivered, and enchant to shine rainbows of grace in the prairies of creativity exhaling its balmy breath on the nose of the reader’s soul.

I have enjoyed the reading of “The View from Where We Love”.

I salute You, Poet!

May the Mother-Poet, – the Author of this unique Poem, – “You”, keep feeding the humanity of Your mind to nourish the eternity of Your soul.

Who needs acid - even my Earl Grey is getting this pictoral blood pulsing through my veins at the rate of knots!! Talk about a "There And Back Again" write; Lewis Carroll, CS Lewis and John Lennon all rolled into one! And, goodness me, "A dolphin leapt high to kiss a jewel-titted hummingbird." fair gets my gossamer wings vibratin at 100mph. "Glowing your world inside out" - must be the state of the mutual minds at work when you are passionately engaged with someone in a physical way, I would imagine... but then, better not!! :)) As for the second stanza... well, better left unsaid, I think. After all, most of communication is non-verbal, so... say no more... except makes my mountain write recently sound like a rainy day in a chip shop in Bognor (sad English joke)... NOW I really like the opulence and the tactile feel of all the rich wood and stuff in the third stanza - very fragrant, like spices. And the finale is spectacular and completely orgasmic (not a word, apparently, but I don't know why not...). Hmmm... I think I like this one! Hope your derriere withstands all the heat, though... :)) On that note, I'm off to watch a DVD of Troy with Brad Pitt... seems rather fitting somehow... TY v much and LOL Kate xx
