Poem Artwork

We are the wanderers
We travel the lonely path
Walk light on the earth
heavy hearted
Breathe sky through our eyes

When we were young
the earth was our mother
We would gaze at the stars
and wonder where we belong
For here we are strangers
and bleed in the crowd

The moon knows our name
She pulls us like the tides
injecting mysteries in our veins-
heady fragrant music
Whispers in ancient language
are those lost echoes in the hills

Our shadows chase us
when we try to light down
or drown in love
Thinking ourselves fools
we surface for air
needing oxygen to save our souls

But in some sweet moments
we breathe through each other
Become one
Find beauty in a dream
that fades apon awakening

Our flesh is a fragile shell
that when broken tears us apart
That when given, brings us home
Then we curse the dust on our feet
for the path drives us on

We hover at the crossroads
between heaven and earth
Hot at the equator
we see both sun and moon
rising and falling

We are balanced 'tween two poles
Still in spin, we twirl on the axis
Gravity holds us here
and destiny
which propells us through time

I can so relate to this, It's who I am, It's why I write, I wish all could see through each others eyes, maybe then we could truly understand. Pierre.

"Breathe sky through our eyes". . .ahhhhh. Linda, this is
w o n d e r f u l. Love the tone, the images, the feel, and
the illustration you so wisely chose. Almost like a second
poem! This dream of a poem will not fade upon awakening!
Thank you so much for sharing it. Write ON!! 'Pea' <3

Yes... and the hobo life and vagabond highway seem to call to us at various stages of our life, sometimes we can follow, other times we must resist her siren call. Great writing here in this mesage.

I am a gypsy spirit and come by it honestly. I am always thirsty for answers...like you. I won't sit and wait to get another's opinion without looking for it myself first. I admire this one Linda...fact is I admire all of your poetry.

An insightful and thought-inciting creation, Lin. I've never felt more like (where do I belong?) than the past two or three years. Nicely done, my friend. Love and peace to you,

Awesome and a beautiful, sentimental piece that holds so
much meaning. I find the beauty of your dream and you
know that dreams are really life.

Linda

You portray in delicate and sensitive words the life of many of us survivors in the world..
We are all on a learning curve, needing to learn from our mistakes, and make amends to those we may have hurt on the road of existence..
Beautiful poetry

My God, Linda, I know that you mean this poem to be about humans in general as we walk this earth our appointed time, BUT, it describes me to a T in my many years of wandering across the face of America and back again, looking for something, but not really knowing what. Excellent word usage here.
