"So we gonna walk through the roads of creation. We the generation trod through great tribulation..."

~Bob Marley "Exodus"

Why must we go backward, was there something we didn't learn,
something hidden beneath the smooth sanded sheet rock that has now dried and shows it's cracks?

Why are we condemned to repeat
the sorry sad history that time reviles?

Is that sodden mud that clings to the walls of this country spread so thin
it has now turned to powder in our hands?

Or didn't the tape rolled out and applied to the seams adhere and like stones in the long road home that are kicked up by the foot traffic moving forward, it camed unglued from the foundation of law?

I remember those two students in 1958 from pictures. And the looks on the faces of those who stood separate, thinking themselves superior by some accident of birth.

Over forty years have come and gone.
Will we wander in the dust again?

So sad that this isn't all in the past. But this picture can still be taken on any given day in so many places on our world. "When will we ever learn" Well said. Pierre.

Fortunately we've come a long long way from those days. Yes you still have idiots wearing skin of all colors, but the human race as a whole we're pushing on. Worry not about those who live in the past, because it's in the past that today they may die.

Thought provoking questions you pen, Lin, in excellent verse; well done! Shame we don't learn from the lessons of the past...and are condemning ourselves to repeated failure.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Remembering our past so we do not repeat it is always justified in my humble opinion!Having said that,I also agree with Carolyn. We have not yet become civilized or this world would not be in the ignorant state it is in! Since the Creator felt it necessary to "create different languages at the tower of bable", we have yet to learn how to communicate because we are too far behind in educating the masses so that they know how to make right decisions. If greed power, that breeds injustice, weren't uppermost on the minds of man,we could have become more civilized by now. Very thought provoking Lin, and one that needs lots of discussion to bring about change for the better!

Lizard Lin

You always write with wisdom, and so much thought
touching on subjects that effect humanity
even those of us who choose not to acknowledge the past
in every day living.......but its there, and things can and do
go full loop

ty for this reminder

the humans need it

It appears so, you've given the reader much
to ponder and wonder about. A message is within
I am sure. Great Lin! I've been absent so haven't
had time to read or write for that matter. But
your muse is alive girl. Wow!

A very sad and thought provoking question, that I frequently ask myself, about so very many things.

oh linda, you've got your mind set on rattling our cages-- bless you! love the pic! sadly, mechanisms of division, be they racial, religious, ethnic, political, economic, "social" are part of our pot-marked human condition. i think it is clearly premature to consider the human species "civilized"; witness the global human condition today. the "message" is out there in many a form, but the masses do not listen...
peace be with you,

I'm confused as Jerry is. Hatred in all its forms will always be a part of our fabric unfortunately. Let's not keep pulling the scab off the wound or it will never heal.

Growth is power however learned. There is always room for knowledhe and being as versatile as humans can be...we can morph for the better with a little effort and energy.

Yep, reckon so, Linda. Time is linear but history repeats in cycles, boom and bust, with all the myriad social goods and evils that roll along with its wheels. How futile to think that "progress" is necessarily ALWAYS for the good of all... seems we still have not learned how to apply practices in our human order to take care of that, although it seems no problem to dabble into outer space and search for some unsuspecting planet that might wish to host our next foul-up! :)) Love the extended metaphor here.. many of us are looking to the writing in the sand at the moment. Your Eagles report is waiting in the wings!! :)) TY LOL Kate xx

"Why must we go backward, was there something we didn't learn," You mean America is segrated again? Didn't know that, Linda, it must have just slipped by me. What the heck is THIS all about?
