How fragile how changeable
this ship that twirls and circles
and how worthless our
tacking against the enviroment.

One thing wrong
six billion people heading
for ten billion before the
end of the century.

How can we take the mercury
out of the fish, the ozone out
of the air, reestablish lost species
and replant the rain forest?

Are we destined to
harm the scrub jay
dislocate the gopher tortoise
and worry the burrowing owl?

Look at what we did to
the Native Americans,
they were people
not passenger pigeons.

Dominant theology says
that we must preserve
g-d's earth the way he
made it,

But the fossil records
show that change
is constant and
humans will leave too.
