It doesn't sing by Henry Burt Stevens 2/23/2004 www.authorsden.com/henrybstevens "It doesn't sing" "What do you mean it doesn't sing" "It doesn't lift me it doesn't carry me it's lead, a bomb" "Very funny I'll drop it on you" "It's a pen not a song but I know what she means How do I make it sing?" I work on it. over and over switch words till it's better Not just words images can carry more weight than words Over and over till little beads of blood dance on my forehead -that always means I'm getting closer By then you can't forget the rhymes forget the rhymes over and over until you can give it to the angels to sight read. Then you can show it around you know who can help you each of them will move it close for you Stay with it until it sounds close to the national anthem before the game stay with it till it sings you'll know when you get there.

I rarely give up on a poem. I usually don't have to. It rules me till it's done or I can't sleep thinking about what I may have lost. It's tough writing ones best at all times, though. The good ones get us through. Nice piece.
