Giant among giants;

Though gang-raped daily,
discarded like broken china,
I treasure you.

land of my progenitors,
Decked,and mesmerized
with glittering garlands,
I genuflect in awe
At your staying power.

Reminds me so much of the love expressed by God for His people in the allegory of Hosea. Such faithfulness and identification is awesome - as is the reverence expressed. An outpouring of the heart and soul that is made all the more powerful by the purity of sentiment that is written in an uncloying and "eyes wide open" way.
