I think many will look at an inmates life a little differently after reading the poem.... TO CLAIRFY ,, HE IS IN JAIL. AM NOT SURE WHY ...Sorry I didn't make that clear when I typed it...
Its waiting on visits that never take place from family and friends who
forget our face
Its waiting on letters and doing some time , but no one writes , or sends a dime
Its calling and hearing a block on the phone. You maintain and accept you're all alone
Its hearing everyone say they're all trying,and making promises,
but you know they're all lying
Its making plans with someone you thought you knew, but those plans change,and don't include you
Its hearing promises that go straight to your head, but when push comes to shove,they leave you for dead
Its feeling love, honor, pride and pain, the emotional hurting inside, that comes again and again
Its expressing your pain to loved ones and friends, but they can't see you, cause you're in the pen
Its a mess up, sitting here doing time and time again,
BUT,
that's my JAIL life, outa sight,
outa mind
This is as Karen says 'a sad and introspective write' regardless of the circumstances, the good or bad of the case.

Was never meant to be medal of honor. It is a very lonely way of life, expecially since the life you have is no longer yours. Such a sad and introspective write....
As jeanette says, he hasn't said why he is doing time. We all know there is a punishment when we do wrong and that is why we have to think first is it worth giving up our life of freedom and loved ones. A lot of the time the innocent ones can't handle what is. Thank you for sharing MaryGrace.
Erasmo doesn't say why he is in prison; however, it is definitely too bad that he didn't have forethought to avoid getting there. I have a friend whose son was determined to be self-willed and do what he wanted. Everybody tried to talk to him, but he wasn't prepared to listen until he got into trouble had had to serve time. He's never been in trouble since then. (I wish they could learn these lessons the easy way, by listening to he good advice of their parents and/or other family members.
