In 2008 it was hope for change (my poem, Leading Las Vegas). 2012 was a reminder of hard work ahead (Electiongate). Now it's 2016 and diagnosis takes center stage.
Election Health Check Blurred unreliable memory falters Opinions separate lives once shared As caricature replaces honest portraits Pathologies become lurid jokes And the massive data we do collect Comforts with its lack of diagnosis America elects not persons but itself We can choose a healthier version Or be the meal for some rough beast Whoever wins, we still face ourselves And vote daily on what we ignored About real strengths and weaknesses It is given to us, as to our forebears, To invent a stronger more generous nation Confront defects and discover possibilities Ask each other about cures that work Put our hearts and brains together And do something worthy of our heritage Charles B. A very good summation of who and what we are, and the challenges we must face. Neither the agony nor the ecstasy is shared equally, however, with the pain falling mostly on the many, while the few collect the comforts. Overindulges heighten both and they require sharper words to get this point across. Many excellent perspectives in your narrative,

So very well stated in a short poem. We certainly do need to vote for a better image of ourselves. Our discussions tend to bring out our worst instead of our best. Why are the ones who are proposing real solutions for all of us ignored. While we engage in battles over nothing.
