Sick of being sick, so I got well.

I hated being sick, a spiritual regurgitation is what I needed.
A calm spirit that’s clear
not dicey, fragmented or soiled.
Rebirth.

I emptied the garbage from my brain,
tossed the darkness into the dump.
I let the light in. Breathing deep
and coming up, for air.
Light revelations beamed, and
became pronounced, alive in me.
A new appreciation was born.
“Life is good, make it all that you can”
I heard the small voice say.
Growth.

A time to think about the good things.
The upholstered chair made for me
as a child.
Trips to the swimming pool, the sun
beaming brightly on my side.
My butt on a burlap bag, going down
the giant super-slide. Rides in my
brother's car, giggling at his girlfriend.
Thinking how much she looked like Cher.
Her hair, free flowing, flying in the wind.
Living.

Weekends with Tami, rolling skating on Nanny’s hardwood floors.
Trips to 'M.E.Moses' five and dime. Buying plastic high heels and wearing lipstick galore.
These are the days and times that shaped
me as well.
I believe I’ll think on these things in lieu of the past hell.
Health.

Janet...this is what i call "a glory hymn in today's time." it resonates in my "reader's mind," with Wm. Tyndale's transulation of the New Testament because healing was always transulated as "health." as always, i so appreciate your seeing eyes and hearing heart. i have to get your new book! miss talking to you! vicki

Dear Janet,

Strong, visceral; imagery that bites,grabs:

"I emptied the garbage from my brain,
tossed the darkness into the dump.
I let the light in"

This is poetry of a high standard: it's not maudlin, not self-obsessive; it is honest, fleshy, emotional, cerebral.....

As always, good to hear your voice,
Slan,
Pat.

When we're young, we never realize how much of what we do will shape us in the future. But that's what makes those memories special. And bringing them back like this is part of what keeps us going. So keep on going, Janet. We're on the ride with ya!

Songs To My Lily Of The Valley ~

I stand back in time
In a land far, far away
Back to the glory of the shepherds fields
Beside the peaceful streams
Gentlest closest friend Emanuel
Softest eyes of his that know no sorrow
His cheek presses gently upon my cheek
Healing ever ailment
My pain of earth is gone suddenly
In white light skies and crisp amber sun streaming
Pine tree’s swaying
The shepherd holds his scepter of justice
My closest friend I have ever known
Sits upon a rock
Within a background of quiet streams
I sit beside his glory
Father has given him and lighted candle upon his head
Anoints my spirit with song
Listening to his lighted torch
Lily knows all my sorrows
Heals all my diseases and imbalances
Calls his gentlest flock the meek
The ones that await truth
The gentle butterflies that await the gates
That seek justice
We shall raise upon the morning star
To you the fairest of all lily stars
Never will I forsake you, my child, he softly says
I lay beside the peaceful streams
As the water of life renews and restores my soul
I find I need more and more of this "river "of life
Healing all of my sorrow
Clearing all my pain of trauma and confusion
The master takes my hand and gently takes me upon the healing waters
With each dunk I am whole
My sorrow is gone
My anger is healed
My grief over childhood is over
My tears are finally coming out
He sees my tears flow that once I could not cry
The inner child of me is finally whole
All of my sadness of a million tears are no more
With each river dunk my tears are cleansed
Renewed
Forever changed
My soul is healed
No more sorrow to carry of earth
I am transformed into the butterfly
He whispers gently
The river of life will forever guide you safely home
Come all my lambs
I search for my flock to tend
Come, my flock to the river
O, amazing is thy grace, thy shepherd
For once I had rivers and oceans of tears
Once I had sickness in body, mind and spirit
Once I was so close to deaths door
Yet, you my precious lily made me see thorns do have roses
Through grace you gift us with thorns
Through grace you gift us with transformation into everlasting eternal life

My beautiful savior was broken for me
On top of Skull hill of Calvary
They tried to kill him and left him for dead
But on that third day my savior rose instead
With songs of victory for he over came this world for us for love
My savior, my redeemer from Fathers home above
