Friendship?

I sat and wondered as I
unwrapped your souvenirs.
With the hidden meanings revealed.
I consider the friendship.

You know, the one that we shared.
I wonder where it went? I'm not sad.
Maybe a little, more curious really.
Speculating your next move, as
if you gave a shit, a fit, such shit!

Why is it that you sneak up on me?
offerings from your decomposing
moral fiber. One slimy message
maggot munching my slowly
decaying sympathy for you.

An overstuffed Tabby, batting
about a living morsel, you have
no intention of eating, torture.
I freeze in shock like a doe
caught in headlights. Staring,
glaring, still it makes no difference,
not in the end.

We are the same, I question and
wonder where the love went.
Did it leave, walk away and go?
Has it become a fine mist?
Is it an energy burning bright?
It has to be somewhere, love
doesn't transform into a
vaporous ghost. Can I pull
it out at will? Can you?

Is it rearranged deep within
my soul? I can't seem to
find it. Did you take it?
The vapor, the luminosity,
is it a mist, did I swallow it?
Was it silky on my throat?

Has it left a permanent trace?
Is it the engraving on your chest?
If it's an energy burning bright,
maybe it exists in your bronze
skin from the Summer sun.
I find no hint of it on my own skin.
Not below my eyes or under my chin.
It's within my beating heart,
hidden, unending, bottomless,
still lost to me my friend.

I have asked these same questions so many times about so many differnt folk...I love the way you write, it's raw, just the way I like it. Deep and penetrating...

Janet, so many fantastic lines in this one I can honestly not pick a favorite. It makes the reader feel as if you are looking out a window or into a mirror and refecting aloud of a love gone wrong. Well done.

I have found my depression of yesterday written in this poem today.
No answers but to let each cloud pass as it will.
Love is weather.
May there be sun.

Tick tock..One does wonder all this, and sometimes it is good to relive it all out, but then there's a time to just, put it all down to experience and move on. Loved this xx Janny

True friendship is a rare treasure and, in my experience, not so easily found. I find your poem very meaningful, Janet. Love and best wishes to you,

Maybe, the friend is feeling and wondering the same. If friendship is real it does not go away. Trust is a funny thing, sometimes the lack of it, is what the friendship fears. This hit home, I have been feeling the same situation. Maybe it is the season. Who knows? Nice write, it resonates. Thank you and Be Well, Carin' Spirit

I've asked alot of these questions to myself in the shadows of candlelight all but to receive dim answers...I think the relevancy of lost relationships is to ask ourselves these things you've outlined just so well, Janet. We are better for it when we take the time to sit and ponder the value of friendships. In the end, as you've outlined, it really doesn't matter, only that we know we did the best we could...I just posted this thought on Twitter I quote which I think sums it up "Those relationships we've opened with care are sent into cosmic matriculation and graded on effort. The goal is to pass."
