Where are they now?

I was going to practice my writing,
instead I googled my way into
an online hippie store.

Pages of posters from my youth,
hemp-hand bags with drawstrings,
the smell of patchouli and more.

The colors were groovin’,
the incense with blue curls.
Jesus sandals and tees galore.

Checking out the posters I spied,
Jimi crouching over a bowl. Jim was
there too, taking it all in.

Janis was there nursing a drink
still screaming for Bobby,
I hope she finds him.

Sheryl was swaying her hips,
back then it was Geoff, now a mouthful
of dirt and lost dreams are her bed.
I’ll always miss her.

Tami was a prima donna
come to think of it, still is. Traipsed
off to Australia, with four kids.
I miss her now.

Cindy was a hippie for sure, long hair and jeans.
Cool lady, trusted friend that everyone adored.
Her Mom’s gone now, she’s changed.
I miss her even more. xoxoxo

Its strange fact of life memories are for ever young, I quite liked this, though I don't know why,
because I remember clothing coupons, they where a pain all the family had to give up their ration for a year if some one decided to get married.

It can really be interesting looking up old friends. Sometimes sad. Great capture of this. Now where did you find the sandels? Its hard to find a good leather pair these days. Everyone seems to be into plastic.

Janet, honey, sometimes we need those little side trips
(like the one I took in Lavender Solace), to re-orient
ourselves. I think we get too easily in ruts, especially
as regards our work.

Ok, now THIS brings back a LOT of memories! My older brother SO wanted to go to Woodstock! Mom wouldn't let him. I would have found a way to tag along with him, if he'd gone. He introduced me to Pink Floyd. Stabbed to death by his wife in 1981. I miss Larry; he was a poet, musician, guitar player. Thanks Janet. -- Jeff
