Carla HighEagle helped
relocate the Sawtooth Wolves
to Nez Perce land after they
had been studied in captivity.

Stone Creek Woman studies
battered women in the same
way.

Casting a practiced eye on her
wounded pack at mealtime, and
all other times.

Some women are as elusive as
the wolves.  Some prefer to
take their meals alone.

Some women even cry the Cry.
There is nothing in the world
more sorrowful than when a
battered woman howls out of
loneliness for her abuser.

But she knows he is no longer
a member of her pack.  Still,
though, she misses him.  And
she has reason to.

He was the one who helped
locate the family den, and he was
the one she bedded down with
some lazy afternoons, and every
night.

He was the one who used to make
love to her from the time the full
moon rose until it set, but he was
also the one who changed the
rules of wolf government.

To live with the Alpha male gone
bad is like living with a rabid
creature who can turn on her
at anytime.

Stone Creek Woman feels it
crucial for the private sector
like herself to manage and
move packs of battered women
to fertile mental and physical
lands, as safe houses and
shelters are only temporary
grounds.

Stone Creek Woman moves
her packs through many lands,
developing strong directions
along the way, padding toward
personal growth.

"To howl in the wind and chase
the scent of the new moon
drifting across the pines is to
have sore paws, and to have
sore paws is to belong completely
to nature, and in belonging, one is
made whole, and when one is whole,
one is healed."

Yes, to be healed tho, one is whole. We first have to heal, then move on in wholeness of our lives. I wish I could heal, but like Stone Creek Woman, I move to many lands in my infertile mind. I can't say more than Kate has sis, but this made me stop and think. Thanx for sharing this with us.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Indeed, full healing is true wholeness and it is often those who have had the skin flayed from their paws and who have left their bloodied imprints for other battered souls to walk in who are those who mark out the route and lead the way to greener pastures where malnourished spirits can feed and grow unhindered. This is a beautiful allegory, Sage, done in your inimitable style, bringing many-splendoured global inner and outer worlds together in peaceful harmony. Here you stand firmly at the top of the pile in the Pageant of Beautiful Souls... bet you like THAT image, huh??!! Strive on for your brand of "World Peace"!! :)) Strong and tender, imbued with natural wisdom and intuitive understanding. Gorgeous, thank you. Kate xx

The power of one woman can make such great changes. Imagine as we become a pack what changes will come............:-)

You Stone Creek Woman are a woman of gentle spirit and indomitable courage, your third eye sees easily through the illusion and mirage of the pack..
And you are right, you cannot ever trust the whims and ego of the Alpha Male..
Bravo to you Sage for defending the rights and sanctity of abused and battered women...you are a Godsend in our midst !
Love and Blessings

I'd like to one day see a real wolf, before Alaska kills them all off from airplanes, males, females and even pups are being shot at and killed...(sorry that had nothing to do with your poem, it just kinda popped out when I read this, another interesting and educational poem of yours), Ed
