heat rising,
dust sanitizing,
whores opened
their doors, ghosts
don their Sunday best,
Bibles polluted, no time
for rest, white collar blood
stained, that night it rained,
Madam's voice anything but
muted and tamed, "my girls will
see to you, wash your filthy sins, call
Azael from the livery stable, cauterize your
wounds with the fire of the black wrought iron
nail, you can still go to hell!"

his foot
caught in the
stirrup, preacher's
daughter tied his dirty
foot with barbed wire,
smacked his horse on
the backside, sent him
off on his death ride, drug
his ass for miles across the
prairie, vultures picked his cactus
and barb wounds, fed on the child
predator, his timely dirty destination
paid a visit to the brothel, crawling up
to the door near dead, infested with sin
leaching ecclesiastical pus,

Azael Nailed
him, Fire, he saw
the Light, liturgical
manger scene, five
whores boiled a cauldron
of water, Madam blessed the vile
stranger, cedar incense in the censer,
air charged, whores f***ed him clean,
swept the livery stable with the pagan
broom, angels entered the room,

Azael delivered
the sixth whore's
baby in the livery stable
manger, cut the umbilical
cord, anointed it with balm,
blessed it, this Child of Light,
Rite of Passage, Madam read
about sacrifice of Cain and Abel,
enlightening preacher they could have
taken his ass to the whipping post, "The
blood of sprinkling ... [speaks] better things
than that of Abel" Hebrews 12:24,

"Amen," Azael spoke,
"whoever f***s with these
whores, vengeance shall be
upon him sevenfold, soiled doves
cleanse his dirty Sunday gloves so
he can turn the Pages clean," she
told,

scars, curse
and mark, sign,
omen and warning,
whipping post burned,
have they not ever learned,
Madam turned and looked Azael
in the

Eye...

I just love reading your work, gets the heart pumping and usually irks me towards the judgmental ass holes. Well done my sweet!!!

So compelling, hard hitting and written with a bit of true mystery. Your work never disappoints the reader. I know when I get to your page I will feel the reality of what you write Sage. "Powerful" best describes your work, My Friend.

This is a tough hard core bitter tale that seems to be undone by a birth. Once again you have that western mystique held tightly at the tip of your pen. Tim

I missed your refreshing talent!
This leaves me with all the action, images and symbols strongly present in my mind. It is difficult to forget the particular atmosphere of your writing. You have a unique way of reassigning roles and casting new light on age-old themes.

I have saved this one, not from sin, but for my library.

Pretty Intense! but this story is so real, the way you tell it,
it comes into plain site!
As a new baby is delivered! no matter where, it's the birth that appears!
I'm so glad to be reading you again SAGE!
You have such forethought when you write! your words rhyme at certain times as you tell your tale of Western tails/tales!
but it's LIFE and it use to happen more so than now, I think -
WRITE ON!Touching others hearts/souls/mind STRONG!

You take us on some ride with your verses, Sage. I always find myself rather wordless when it comes to commenting on your "stuff." That of course is a compliment. Love and best of my sentiments to you,

It's a cauldron poem, Sage; witches of eastwick meets the good, the bad, and the ugly. As menacing as a saloon full of rattlesnakes or a desert full of gun slingers.

Sage,
This is delight from first word to (so telling) last...the sheer energy of it, the power of the images, metaphysical, biblical, sexual, and the astute use of punctuation never arbitrary, breaking where essential to the meaning. This is splendid writing, and it's such a relief to see you back and in top form.

Wow, Sage. This reads like it exploded from your pen.
Perfect alliteration picks up the the almost frenzied pace.
Love the rhymes. A breathless read. You are one knee-slapping
ass-kicking poet. -gene.
