Death of Grain,
Corn whiskey rationed,
dulled scythe, she pulls
her black hood over her
head,

raises the flag
on her mailbox,
oilcloth and work gloves
order form and check, last
payment on headstone,

selling blankets
along side the road,
she fills a 25-pound flour
sack with nickels and dimes,
prays and pays tithing,

new bunkbeds stacked,
Amish-crafted, she lays
out her tarot on the purple
velvet, Celtic Cross spread,
"Return to Sender" last payment
on headstone, Widow's Silo, Death
