lacerating
wounds cinched
under her chin with
extreme wrath of tone,
1888 letter carrier found
unconscious, her secret
tucked in envelope, stolen
to protect identity, so revealing
of an abuse, telegraph lines put
into the ground, communication
halted, funeral processions stalled,
coffins kept in nearby houses overnight,
washboard dirt roads obliterated, horse-drawn
wagons abandoned, churches open, is there life
without risk?

they
paid the
preacher
more to pray
harder, lacerating
wounds cinched under
her chin in curvy maple and
silver strings, only place open,
the church where her secret played
at the altar, she began to play, and then
harder and fiercer, Reuben James' horse
stopped, spread its legs and refused to budge,
trees moved from their very roots, her violin told
the secret resonating the girl child pushed on the
churchyard swing higher and higher until he could
see her elastic, the stretch of his desire he pulled down
tearing innocence from blood rupture, girl child to...

...woman,
lacerating wounds
cinched under her chin
with extreme wrath of tone,
painful awakening, when deceived,
becoming attentive to the least sound,
mistrusting a soil on which she had so
long ago placed her feet upon with confidence,
so revealing of an abuse, telegraph lines put into
the ground, communication halted...now they listen
to her in concert halls...

what i was thinking was, reincarnation all the way--how maybe sometimes only justice can be served across the lines of life and death into the next one. But that's only my thoughts. You're stuff is a challenge! but the metaphor is great stuff, and I love violin music! Musical references turn me on. Now for some Bach Partitas & sonatas by maybe just that someone you modeled your character on...
Keep 'em coming...

symptoms post traumatic all - takes time to find ones chair - reminds of Alice Miller's interpretations and ideas around abuse and creativity, of artists and performers, such as Houdini, and i forget who else now..many people didnt like her ideas, i liked reading her books long ago -the violin, the gypsy, female or male, a small, but powerfully tugging, haunting voice of herstory or history, the historic fiddler on the roof (another figure in my imaginary band is Kokopelli, although on flute :) and for a female, the journey of the violin, from violin to cello, is about healing, and growing healthy, and your readers would wish her well xx

Sage...You...Know This Embracing
tears come from yesteryears...I too know "The Violin"

Males whom have laid thier hands
on the most preciousness
Life & Soul
The innocence of her
A "child girl"
before she even knew...herself
& her Soul
Evil Hands
& those ripping stings
and a man will claim his noble pride?!
He can stand to live with his lies?
His disgust...?
(they do-false preachers with
many ahhh....self serving hard on....any man? Male?!)
always going for panties privacy...
stealing theives...cowards to a REAL WOMAN
I will stand & challenge them all
(though they hide truth)
their deception
their falsity
their cowardice they serve to their dick
afraid to acknowledge...they are
& I am Empowered & Free
Remaining in Truth...
Knowing & Seeing Inside
Love & Revelations Exposure
Warmth Embracing You

such gripping narrative, Sage, and with such fierce and suggestive under-and-overtones that we feel each ache and fear of this sinned-against virtuosa. The violin is exactly the right instrument whose mournful tones lament the tale of religious abuse - it's folky and wailing and the shape of a woman and an age-old church instrument, after all. Yes, very strange the black-out mumm-ness of information on the subject... yet her voice through the violin reaches sensitive, listening and powerful ears... xxx

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
