Whiskers Were Cut From Jesus' Face

Catholics stained grace
Runes bled with red
Whiskers were cut from Jesus' face

Combat prayer said
Horse moved the buckboard from the church
Carrying the girl with the iron leg brace

Druids knelt in robes
Crossbow and Bible
Shaking their Seer water globes

Cowgirls in brass knuckles
Striking a thousand matches
The sulfur overcoming their rivals

Rosicrucian Cross belt buckles
Alchemy meltdown glitches
Gold's melting point church abuse patches

Whiskers were cut from Jesus' face
Purify sin and begin again
Bring in the witches

The sky turned gun-metal gray
Horses lathered with labor's sweet reward
Amish equine-pulled hayrake curing more than hay

Bullets maximize ricochet
The Sundance Wives dodge unkind brass
Shot bead daisy chain - pray - purifying rain

The barber lathered transformation
Whiskers were cut from Jesus' face
To take away the people's pain

The story of Jesus, is it Once Upon a Time in the East, a Sergio Leone western?

Was His face bare without the whiskers, the facial furniture, or worse, was he like Samson without his locks? Imagine Jesus with a short back and sides!

You give us food for thought, Sage, deep insights from your own unique perspective.

I always enjoyed Oscar Wilde's writings on Jesus£¬ the Soul of Man Under Socialism essay,
and the long prison letter De Profundis.

Every devil I meet turns out to be an angel, the words of a famous rock duo from America.

The scene in the Garden of Gethsemane when the thought of the horrible ordeal awaiting Him seems to become too much for Jesus - unforgettable£¡

It's not hard to see why millions devote themselves to the life of Christ, to Christianity.

Others don't like any label, but secretly carry his message in their hearts.

And folks like me, who like the freedom to roam around, to partake lightly of the World's religions and philosophies£º

I am really enjoying the sight of all the Buddhist temples in China and try to live with the same serenity and calmness as the Laughing Buddha£¬(not easy) to remember the Mona Lisa smile of Guan yin, the Goddess of Compassion.

Godnight, and may your God go with you!

That's how the Irish comedian Dave Allen used to end his TV shows - sitting there with his cigarette and his whiskey ... haha!

the whiskers were cut from his face so the witches would have to find another place to light their matches on, that's why barber poles spin in circles, so the suffering would endure ...

exceptionally well written, Sage ...

Sage, you take a motif, two or three bars, and write the most telling variations on it without ever losing the core impact; I'm listening to a wrought sonata here, and what language play!

That's some stunning imagery Sage. Again, I am transported to another moment, another world, another evocative state of contemplation. Dynamite fresh!!!

...and when I shave the stubble from my head and soak the nicked blood from my cuts I bleed and my blood will now be a reminder of sin and suffering but the soul will go on undisturbed...

Stunning in its scope of interlaced as well as wide-ranging religious iconography, rites (including ritual abuses) and social-order regalia, this is totally eye-popping and eyeballing to the brain. Whatever foulness befalls, the Christ endures always as the clean-shaven Saviour who endures always the closest of shaves without blood-stained hands of perversion. Always he emerges spotless to mop up and absorb all pain. And, as always, as Aslan, his mane regrows more glorious and resplendent than before. AWESOME write, Sage-One. xx
