such a history has that nasty barbed wire!

I have had my share of barbed wire fences to keep me from doing what I needed to do, but I have overcome every one of them. There is great imagery here sis, and a sense of accomplishment at the end. Thank you for sharing.

This is really cutting edge, pardon the pun. Thank you for having the moxy to write and post this. The line which really kicks me in the teeth is the one describing the long-horn steers, so much power in numbers yet due to their conditioning, they back away from four pathetic, twisted barbed strands and remain on the plantation, so to speak. Is this not typical of mankind? It's like when Orwell says in 1984 that until the Proles rebel, they'll never become conscious. And they'll only become conscious if they rebel. Therein lies the transformation you speak of. A long and bloody process. Not easy. Renegades are few and far between; but nature does everything in abundance so that no matter how many followers we have, there will always exist the renegade somewhere in that mix. Will you or I or someone else be that person? I think you've already answered that. In fact, there's no other way to be in my opinion. Three cheers for the iconoclasts and let the good times roll!! Excellent piece.
