Saloons, Whiskey, Pianos and Prostitutes

Thoreau planned
to turn his vast botanicals
into a book before he died,
the project undone, don't let
it happen to you,

huckleberry philosophy,
beware of all enterprises
which require new clothes,
pine boughs, water colors
and oils, dreammaker placing
botanical specimens in her raffia
cowgirl hat, Pat Benatar on her Ipod,
70s rock and she knows exactly when
plants open visiting dozens of times within
a fortnight so that she might know...that she
might know when she opens,

saloons in
the Wild West,
whiskey, pianos
and prostitutes, a
silo transformed into
varieties of butterflies,
adopt a brick, own a butterfly
in the painting, inside the silo
salmon swimming circles all heading....
heading in the same direction, I have that
brass compass here with me, I've had it for
years, it's now yours,

Thoreau planned
to turn his vast botanicals
into a book before he died,
the project undone, don't let
it happen to you.

Been going in circles and chasing my tail for years. Scared I might actually catch it one day. Patrick

Walking on the water at Walden Pond, Jesus stumbles through "Heartbreaker" by memory. Huck sings "Jesus Loves Me"- the 12-bar blues version as "she" begins to open.

Peace and biblical botanicals,
Dayvid

Thoreau left before his work here was finished and as for the saloons, they are perceived as a playground that fit the mindset of work hard, play hard, fantastic piece...

Be always safe,
Karen

Like everything you write this poem was well crafted, Sage. The only thing that stumps me where does Pat Benator come from?

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
