Coming of Propolis

olivine porn
kept lush by moisture,
Caribbean coming out
of her abalone shell,

fine-textured sand
recusant, dissenters
of religion, for men with
clubs or oars, our priests
kneel with whalebone prayers,
protected species worshipping what
God made as an admirable instrument
of cinematography, built-in prop of harmonious
proportions,

coming of propolis,
the resinous substance
used by bees to stop chinks
and holes in their hives, the sea
buzzing with gossip of debauchery,

nuns carrying piñatas
to cure myopia, the lectionary,
scripture no longer read in church
from the lecturn, the henchmen poor
and diurnaly pale, the nuns aboard a
small catamaran to deliver salvation further
out to the lush pink-tipped coral reefs,

a slurry of lubricants
and a Jesus figurine, we
pray for the focused viewfinder
to record the timeless art where
ancient palms sway in erotic paradise
of olivine porn.

"Singing glory glory alleluia while they try to sock it to you, in the name of the Lord". "Their gonna teach you how to meditate, read your horoscope and cheat your fate". Sage, I am sure you know those lines from Joe South's 1969, "The Games People Play". Your rendering brought those words immediately to mind. "Caribbean coming out of her abalone shell" is a work of art my dear friend. I bid you love and peace. Jon Michael

I like the way you use contrasting images....the sacred and the profane....
