Sweetwater the lesbian western icon of our century chiming in as the American lesbian poet trailblazer bought by Hollywood. Poetry that sells!
Godless Town
spurs unrepentant
baptized on the heels
of sinners walking proud
gunbelts fitted
in collusion buckled
around premeditated robberies
it took the church paint another coat
lined with deep pockets the colt's persuasion
the trigger's silver psalm preached the godless town
water trough
dry in front of
the saloon planted
with black roses jericho's
dirt buried in the sand the wall
remnant gritty powder sunken graves
exposing the bones shoveled with the
devil's mix the wrong temper killed the
godless town
There are more godless towns in this age than in all the ages before Sage. But your classic godless town remains alive in all the images of the old westerns that we've seen. Nothin the preacher can't fix huh? With his guns-a-blazin and the bad guys all die. You can always bring forth images, although some are a bit unconventional. Good read. Bob
I never quite know what to say about your wild west poems, Sage. I love the imagery, and the way you have images cascading all over one another. But after a few readings I'm always left wondering if it really says what I think it says. Must be because I'm an old fart.
Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
A young technician mourns his lover until he meets another man - a man with a secret. But there are other secrets as a jealous ghost returns to protect his turf.
