EXPERIMENTAL

Tuesday, November 29, 2005

One hundred years from now
we will be past, our history impartial.
The gods and weapons we market
will be part-by-part scanned by androids.
Some of the greatest peacemakers of our times
will be charged with swelling the assets
of Hitler and Mussolini.
New propagandists will obliterate
Goebbels from sociology textbooks.
The military junkets, where children
learn numbers counting
dead friends and siblings,
will see small protests and uprisings.

In this journey in nonlinear times
poets, prophets and madmen
will contribute to one another’s oeuvre.
Whisky will be sold in poetry books,
poetry in beer cans,
beer in blood banks,
blood in water tanks,
water in vinegar blood.

Man does have the tendency to contaminate even the purest of things. A thought-provoking write Debashish. Hopefully, what little light we can each shed will make a difference in the final outcome.

One possibility of a dark future, but stranger things have happened. Poets have been prophets in the past. But based on some of the things we've witnessed, this poem could very well be common sense extrapolation. I like the matter of fact tone here. ~~Nordette
