Noun, a Clown

by Debashish Haar — Read all 156 poems by Debashish Haar

Tuesday, March 14, 2006

History, a pile of old newspapers, language a cactus,
noun a clown, verbs are vibrators.
Punctuation marks are contraceptives,
the bald patch of head is a site of natural disaster
where once there were fruits: banana,
orange, grape, apple and strawberries.
I read all these in a health magazine.

Baywatch stars play tennis grand slams,
wwf champions write awesome stories,
stories inspired by Spenser and blended
with gunpowder and bird droppings
(that stick at the site of natural disaster).
I read all these in a bestselling magazine.

There are stories about leaders
(somewhere in asia)
who sell their shite as aphrodiasiac,
their disciples are immune to any violence.
There are governments arming
and disarming nuclear phallus.
There are some dying in cold,
in earth quakes or famines.
Before I appear to be too pretentious,
let me tell you I read this in newspapers.

Everything sells: from Barbie, to fairies,
to used up lingerie of hot and cold celebrities.
First came CDs, then came reusables,
who knows tomorrow sothebey’s may sell
used up condoms of movie stars.
I read this in a comic book, I'll admit.

Loved every single BRILLANT line..As usual Debs you are totaly unique than any poet I have come across...I loved all the lines like: History, a pile of old newspapers, language a cactus,
noun a clown, verbs are vibrators.
Punctuation marks are contraceptives,
the bald patch of head is a site of natural disaster
where once there were fruits: banana,
orange, grape, apple and strawberries.
I read all these in a health magazine.

Punctuation marks are contraceptives,

At least those are free - and it would not surprise me in the least if there is actually a paying market somewhere for used celebrity condoms!
