I

Paper
boats dream to cross
the river, across which
lies hope, a valley of desire,
silence.

II

It is a desert,
searching for cartography
in some lost ocean,
where your desire shifts like dune
and scatters waves in my mind.

Exquisite miniature portrait of futility, paradox, and passion. Reads like a beautiful soul rumbling suppressed love far beneath the earth.

Great stanzas! I especially love the last one:
"It is a desert,
searching for cartography
in some lost ocean,
where your desire shifts like dune
and scatters waves in my mind."

Your verses kick the stress right out of a long and difficult day, Debs. Like the gentle bubbling of a spring with its waters trickling over rocks made smooth by the passing waters of time, your words bring me back to the peacefulness of nature with its sublime beauty and tranquility, offered up to quiet and soothe my soul. Excellent write.
Take care,
Sherry

Very gentle, like origami. I like the stillness and equilibrium of mood, Debs. Makes me think of liquid art, too, paradoxically. The whole imprints on the mind like wave-marks in sand remaining as high-water ebbs away. Captures the ephemeral and elusive qualities of hope and desire like a scent on the breeze. A nice meditation. TY Kate xx

"where your desire shifts like dune" is a vivid image with multiple ramifications.
