Billboard Girl

A Repost

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

She shows
her fiberglass hair,
double-edged tongue,
pierced at odd places.

She has a body,
a mind, a gleaming
necklace, a silk dress
that reveals more
than it hides.

She looks pale behind
dark glasses, her lips crack
like black-cotton soil
when she forgets
popping pills.

Sad but starkly real and vivid, Debs. Thanks for sharing. Love and peace to you,

The media paints a picture for the world of glamour and beauty, all of artificial display. That not only damages the Billboard girl trying to keep up with the status quo of this image at the point of enslaving and harming herself. However, it harms the real beauty in other women that beauty is within trying to imitate her. Gives society the wrong view of beauty, for real beauty remains within the person not skin-deep this one is a powerful look...You have captured.

Light & Peace,
Joselyn

It bares the reality of modern lives by looking at Billboard girl?Plastic behind all the glitter. And how our materialistic ways of life is robbing our true sense of inner happiness.A reminder of our consumer society going off hand. Loved the punchiness of this poem.
