Thirty

by Debashish Haar — Read all 156 poems by Debashish Haar

Thirty, not exactly in prime,
the science, the cause and effect,
the religion, the fracture defect,
the life that swings
between motion
and distance affect
no more than a stub crushed
under feet.

Sounds like your 30 is a neat, round and significant number, Debs. Symbolic in time and place. A plateau, a niche, a place from which to survey all ways up and long ways down. In detail, in general. From outside and within. It's been 50 with me these past 16 days, but I've hunkered down in my contemplative snowhole and survived the blizzard on the rockface so far... Could be a rationalist's view of reasons to give up smoking... I like your crucible writes. Hope you're well. LOL Kate xx
