Nomenclature

They analyze events
like doing autopsies
on unclaimed violated corpses
to know if they died of hunger,
if they died of wealth,
if they died of terror,
or if they died of life.

Others, busy, devise strategies,
make stories in glossy magazines and newspapers
about unexpected alliances between stars.
Invisible ink prints stories on invisible minds
in mute digital pulp--recycled, redistributed--
if lucky, tried and tested they enter
in bestselling books of cliche kings:
the moral scavengers, burning
the society in midnight oil.

There are some playing the puppet,
some trumpet, and certain others
fly, vanish and reappear to squirt
some crocodile tears to insure
this naming business.

Our excesses certainly provide good fodder for the rumor mill. And there seems to be an endless supply of eager gossip mongers to scoop them up and pass them on through their social networks. Yippee!
