Very few have it easy in this life. Some just seem to handle it better than others.

Did they say it would be easy ?
Who gets dealt the best card ?
How could they be so sleazy ?
Why is it so elusive and hard ?

Questions asked in vain
Struggling along life’s road
Never ending series of pain
Bending under the load .

A light ahead so bright
Hope God’s eternal carrot
Will it be alright ?
Is there only Death’s garrotte ?

Is it the same for us all ?
Like some dark tunnel
Humanity in a free fall
To hell through a funnel

No ! Some grasp in the dark
Grasping the rope called faith
Not giving Satan their soul to park
Clinging , climbing as He saith .

Upward , onward to overcome
All life’s trials to no avail
Darkness can conquer some
Through Life, God’s children sail.

At last upon Heaven’s shore
All those questions are no more
No more hunger, no more poor
Safe at last at Heaven’s door.
