Thanks for commenting Ron. A lot of anxiety right now with few solutions in sight. Chaos comes to mind hopefully humanity will persevere and overcome. Definitely unprecedented in our life time.

Fewer and fewer young people get the lessons from the farm like you did.. As a city dweller, I was able to avoid those awful "chores" that farm kids had to do, especially milking cows on time twice a day seven days a week without any vacations. That lack of freedom, set farm children back in school, but made them more resourceful in life with a deep understanding of animals that you have described in your poem.

In your discussion on life and death, all of our measures to try to alleviate human death in this pandemic, may have been for naught. The virus will have its way, anyway, and the measures have disrupted our lives so badly, that we are experiencing anger and violence.
