The birds flock high in the trees,
Mocking me in my solitude -
I carve the symbols deep into the wood
Forsaking my Mother and her gifts in my pain,
Embracing memories as they slip through my fingers,
Colliding energy rushing to the ground
In a whorl of lost hope and destroyed dreams,
The rarity of the feathers, the silken cloth of his love
Shredded like the bark before me,
Desecrated, dying in its falsity -
A broken idol bleeding on the ivory altar,
A Pharaoh petrified and stained.
I gave him my heart to be weighed,
It was too light in essence, he judged harshly,
Tipping the scale,
Plunging me into the darkness of the forest.
I am lost -
Lost here in the woods,
In the dark shadows filtered through wings,
Unable to see the waters, clinging to the silence
As I carve these thoughts in wood like stone.
