Why we have them tied with a ribbon? why reviving the pain again and again by rereading the same lied promises that should had live forever?
Fire purifies, was said, it didn't purify the ones I received...

Poem Artwork

With shaking hands I scooped the ashes
looking after the leftovers of all the smiles,
but nothing was there, only a pile of gray
and the acrid perfume of the burned fire.

I would look behind me, but nothing was there,
asking myself, "what's the color of emptiness?"
hearing the echoes of my voice traveling
to a world where's no love, only absurdness.

Life was like a stained glass open window
to a forever that seemed true and timeless,
with thousands of tender written butterflies,
until that cruel and so unexpected final letter.

Love isn't walking on a treacherous road
where if a foot loses its hold abyss is waiting,
love is the place where all of our illusions are,
no danger there, only the most peaceful awakening.

The sun? gone long ago; the shadows, like witches,
scattered all over the broken ruins of one's life;
the only sound, the dying murmur of the ashes from
the last letter written on the blade of your knife.

There are many exquisite images here, dear friend, but the one that seems to have touched so many of your other readers the most, is also the one that impressed me more deeply - "what's the colour of emptiness?". Well, dear Georg, I believe you depicted, in perfection, all through this poignant yet - yes, I have to repeat it - exquisitely beautiful poem, not only one colour... but, probably, the whole palette of that emptiness... that only the ashes of what has been a great love can leave. But... could the colours of the Phoenix rise from those ashes? I believe they could... I believe they can - love is... as powerful as rebirth itself.

Dear Georg,
I can feel everything you've written about. It brings back many memories of when my ex and I divorced. So many doubs so much absurdness and so many witches scattered over the broken ruins. This is the best poem I've ever read in regards to someone's heart breaking over a lovers' break-up.

A great write in many ways. What is evident is still there after the evidence has long gone. I like the way you wrote this. Lady J

A poignant, deep and sorrowful write. People should not play with anothers emotions especially where love is concerned and then betray them with a "Dear John" letter or something like it.
"what's the color of emptiness?" This sums up how a person feels when their love for another has been exploited and then cast aside like so much rubbish. But the sun always rises in the East and so should one's expectations of finding another lover that will bring true happiness to them.
