a shadow lies across the joy
a force that dampens the smiling face
and lends itself to haunted eyes
as memories lessons are recalled

each day is a trial in going on
and new encounter always weighed
against all past inadequacies
and hope is ever questioned now

step on into dawns new borne light
and judge each moment in its time
the damage done is permanent
accept this state of paranoia

Made me sad, makes me want to say, move on with your (his/her) life, it can be so beautiful. I do understand the darkness though, all too well. Great poem Sandi.

a powerful write for human emotional. I love the line "Judge each moment in its time." how very true that is.

Keen and astute. I believe that the only way to rise above such entrapments is to see them as such. But, such seeing requires the higher awareness of who one is.
With respect, Tom

Deep thoughts poemized... "A shadow across the joy" strikes the womb of the mind, and sings to wise self-awareness. An inspiring composition.

In admiration,

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
