I found you safe and sound
Living with your mother
You once left me without hope
To live on life’s spare breath of love
Here I am with a cat you loved
I now have 3 dogs and 2 rabbits besides
And still an empty place inside
That you reserved for your heart
I love so many, yet none as well
And still I will not come to your bidding
You burn your loves like breakfast toast
And leave them debt and sadness
I have recovered the debt and yet
My life has changed forever
I doubt I will ever love the same
Yet I will live my life in fullness
With but a twinge of love so great
That more like a furnace burns
I choose to forget, and cannot let
That sad love rule my days
A gypsy heart that took my life
With a storm and lightening lashed
Now fades in memories held so dear
Yet deliberately let to fade with time
it is always difficult to lose a love and yet it is also difficult to forget them even if they were no good to us otherwise. Many of us have gone through that but life goes on just the same, Sandy. Odd, but given the chance, love comes back and stronger than ever.
