lifes a sad place sometimes

When the clouds fall around the soul
And darkness closes in.
Like a cloak it wraps itself,
A despairing coat of purple velvet


The day dawns gray and cloudy
With tears of stormy thoughts
The sun cannot pierce through the gloom
The blackness chills way to the bone.

The North wind brings but troubled news
Each gust assaults the skin with ice
And penetrates into the depths.
Where once a proud heart lived.

The hope of all tomorrows
Has withered in realities cold
And work and lifes bright beauty
Takes on a faded glow

Why does the world create such grief,
And leave the living stranded,
Upon these sad, cold snowdrifts?
That melt and disappear into vapor.
