maybe you know that my fierce
tears were not pretend pain
maybe you finally feel the
force of what you never did
that I’m your seed
and that I need you

and maybe I’m okay knowing
that you will never apologize for
missing the best part of my life
that you are who you are
and that I must be okay with just
accepting you as you are

every time you see a grown daughter
laughing
you might remember that you missed
the blessing God gave you

every time you see a singer or poet on tv
you might remember I do sing and do a little poetry
but you never heard me sing a note or ever perform...




finally

every time you see a pissed off girl without
her daddy and how much pain that
can cause in her life, maybe you know
one tenth of what I’ve feel
and carried all this time

finally

know that I don’t hate you
know that I can’t hate you
because God made you
and I can’t hate you if I ever want
to love a man in this lifetime...
and realize that part of
you flows through me

I’m sorry it took so long
for you to understand
and for me to know
that too much time has been wasted

and that love is flowing any way
and every day
cause God will never let me hate
you to the end of my days

take the steps to rectify the
wrongs and
forgive yourself
for no one is perfect
and that I don’t expect
perfection
