hey girlfriend
I know you hear me
even though……….your gone
I know you hear me
your birthdays coming up
but I don’t need that as an excuse
to think of you
I do that always
even after these five years
you
a grin that went for miles
you
there was never anyone like you
there never will be
ok well not a saint
but god let there be a party
and you were there, digging in my refrigerator
to whip up some food
you taught me so much, I carry basil at all times
goat cheese got it
pine nuts always fresh garlic no vampires in my house
remember when we met, standing out in the cold
our munchkin daughters and sons,
goulies you called them, running the hood
Christmas time lights all around me pregnant out to here
you making chocolate truffles, truffles for your husbands Christmas party
a please to meet you turned into an hour and the dog ate the truffles
no worry you said I have enough to start again
always buy more just in case
and then you got me the very next day
imitating an English nanny, I almost hired you on the phone HA
and the games began
a month later you knowing I was meeting my husband for a weekend
come by, I put together alittle something, it’ll be on the front porch
champagne, chocolate kisses, candles, extra black stockings(just in case)
and for crying out loud champagne glasses
I knew I loved you then
was it just three years I had you
never in that time did we argue
never
maybe you’d kick me in the ass if I needed it
but always even though you moved forty-five minutes up the road
we
found time for each other
you bought me bon appetit for Christmas, I sat at the mailbox and cried
the first time I got one after you left, left us all in this world
bereft of your smile
your love
the caring that only you
you girlfriend could give
my heart broke seeing you in that hospital bed
how could this happen
aneurysm
what is that, not you, take me, not you, no not you
I sat on the curb at the hospital and watched the cars on the highway
all those people
we were the lucky ones they, those that never knew your love
were the losers
I overheard the nurses in that intensive care, say
we got some brainwaves when she came in after that nothing
you heard me
you heard me begging
don’t don’t you leave don’t you dare leave us
then I saw the pictures the inside out ones the
x-rays of your brain
and I let you go, one whole side was black, that was the blood
I said goodbye holding your baby while the priest spread his oil
with a roomful of people chanting the words
I miss you
I cried for forty days and forty nights
I’m crying still
they call me aunt now, they are beautiful
I love their daddy as much as I love you
he’s pulled it together, we share your love
I love you always forever
girlfriend
I know you hear me

in a lifetime I've learned love like there's no tomorrow

I feel like I invaded a private place, a place I can never touch, your love for her is just so beautiful, she really must have been such an awesome person!Warm tears streaming down my cheeks...Im sorry to come in on the heels of such saddness and yet to benefit from the love that I have for her family. She is still so "alive" in all thier hearts and always remembered with such deep love and affection,I really wish I could have known her too.........

Hi Jo,
So tender. Oh, too have such a love.
My sister-friend, whose face I see in your words had a stroke not long ago, at 40. She was very calm--kept telling me--"It was ok, really, I just finished making lunch and got to the hospital." The whole time my insides
were demanding she "get it" that she was talking about the potential for a part of me to vanish. Thanks for the words I could not find to tell her.

This was very touching....beautiful write. Having lost a friend less than a year back, I know how it feels. And..like I always asked mom - "Mom, why do good people always go away". Sighs.

Excellent write hun!
