the moon
is an amazing thing really
just this huge rock
that can’t get away
from the pull
of earth
maybe it wants to
maybe it would rather be
hanging out in space somewhere
doing it’s own thing
but we just drag it along with us
as we hang out with the sun
now I’m not knocking the set up
I think it’s great
this rock
all of its shadows and secrets
slivers and fullness
silvery glow
I love it
would be sad
without it
but sometimes I just
feel
for the thing
it seems so stuck
so
can’t get out of the relationship
I made my bed kinda deal
and so year in year out
century in century out
it just does it’s job rotating around
seeing to the oceans ebb and flow
staring down at us sleeping
watching all the sadness that happens in the night
our
very own captive
audience
never blinking it’s glowing eye
just
hanging out
cause it Has to
can’t get away of it’s own volition
trapped in this hemisphere
forever with never a hope
of flying free in the universe
a
dead
reminder floating over our heads
reflecting particles of light
into our windows
when we awaken
with the realization
that
we
are
the same
