I had to stop a friend from driving while really drunk. I wrote this because I couldn't sleep.

There’s a girl down at the corner with a kid I didn’t see
Buying milk they need down at the corner store.
And if they didn’t eat tonight, what matter there to me?
If not them, there’ll be somebody else I’m sure.
A jarring; a thud;
I think I hit the curb
I’m out there praying nobody was hurt.
I wish that she’d stop screaming
And this kid would start to breathe
Please stop! Buddy, please stop bleeding on my shirt.
