Meets the very definition
Of failure.

For if we do not fail
We do not learn
We take away no moral value
No questions to be asked.

If we do not fail
We know not to try again.
And again.
And again.
Until weary hearts
Meet upon success.

And if we do not succeed
We taste the bitter tang
Of failure
The torturous essence
Of persistence that
Urges us onward.

Those who yield success
Without failure
Cannot fathom
How it feels to hope
To dream, to wish.
They cannot understand
The aching desire
Or the burning itch
To make tomorrow
Better than today.

If I could fail a thousand times
To succeed but once,
I would die a happy soul
Knowing the triumph of a single success
Tastes sweet only to those
Who know the pungency
To not succeed at all.
