Care not for too much care for idle woe,
heavy of sigh and over-weaning whine;
the kind kids learned when they heard the word "no";

Pity’s fine to point of passivity;
till dull drive for remedy would demur;
prefer sympathy to activity,
fail to attend to the aches one could cure.
Sulky adolescence prays indulgence;
crusty curmudgeons lament better day;
grown men complain emasculation; hence
lone women wonder, real ones, where are they?
What straits we err to entertain and hone!
