Late

Lately it seems like it's very hard to get accomplished some of those things I've set aside to do... like writing my next novel.

Late

Lately, I've been late,
hard to get to every important date...
missed some on my plate.
Must be my gait.

Thought retirement would give me time,
to do the things that make me rhyme.
But I find those things have to wait,
postponed for some other slate.

It's not that I ‘m slowing down,
although my help has grown a frown.
It's just there's so much to do,
and a lot of time wasters, too.

So, the hurrieder I go,
the behinder I get.
But I'm changing up fast,
and might get there yet.

On the other hand,
(and I do have one...;-)),
maybe I'll just slow down early,
and make that a good bet.

At the end of my toiling,
will give up on all of it anyway,
drink a toast to the god of late,
and coast on through the fall.

Damn! I think I missed Halloween!

I LOVED THE LAST VERSE; A RESIGNATION TO 'GO WITH THE FLOW'. THERE IS A MIRACULOUS STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS...ONLY SURVIVORS THROUGH GOD HAVE THIS GIFT. WHEN YOU HAVE TIME AND ARE NOT 'LATE'(SMILE)...VISIT 'DISCOVERYSERIES.ORG AND READ THE BOOKLET ENTITLED, 'THE STRENGTH OF WEAKNESS'. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS INSPIRATIONS

But it's best not to be referred to as, "the late...."

All I ever seem to do is sleep...so if you need some extra sleep I have tremendous amounts to spare or share...wish I didn't but have no place to go, nor any money or gas to get there...-e-

I appreciate your wit and humor as usual, Ron; however, I also get the more serious side to this. Since I've retired, like you, I am never bored and I always have more things that I intend to get to and don't. I think that is far better than being in a state of ennui. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace to you,

Regis

I thought the same, but how wrong I was. I just traded one job for another - pet rescue - and it sadly never ends.

...soooo very true...life is passing by way to fast!
But don't despair and...while experiencing time
pressure...remember

"It is never too late to be what you might have
been". - George Eliot.

By the way, the word late's the most popular word
used in many conversations taking place this week's
celebration...as many seem to have somebody "late"
to remember on 1st November All Saints event.
Enjoyed your poem, Ronald.

There's a saying about being late.
Halloween is candy time; can't miss that.
Nice poem Ronald.

How could you ever miss Halloween
with a face like a gorilla?!
OK, that's a bit cruel. You look
more like Cheetah... :)
Funny poem, Ron.

A GREAT Procrastination write! We all have been there. I am there now. I rather be writing this than finishing my book that is almost done! Why? I don't know other than I want to do what I am used to. We are creatures of habit and the like. Perhaps tomorrow I will get serious and really write. How about it? Tomorrow sound about right?

My old scoutmaster had a saying, Always late never. Never late better. But then again he wouldn't be on time either. I'd rather be late than sit there and spin my wheels.
Cool write.

I relate one hundred percent to this, Ron. I don't seem to have enough time to do what I always had been able to do in the past. About the novel. I malingered long enough. Four chapters in weeks. Something happened to me. I awoke one morning and said I will write a chapter a day. Today, in a few minutes, I will begin Chapter 22.
