How fragile, an idea is…

Verge of Existence

On the verge of existence,
an idea is spawned.
Across the great chasm,
of fragile, so yawned.

To jot down on faux paper,
of the memory's mind.
Stashed away in thoughts,
with emotions, entwined.

Perhaps in a dream,
burst from the scene,
of head swimming turmoil,
so real it could scream.

Perhaps from a pitfall,
on the path to rendition.
Perhaps from a foible,
in a top-secret mission.

Whatever it is, or was,
when it finally takes shape.
Its emergence is priceless,
that one cannot ape.

The birth of a notion,
like a drop from the ocean,
needs tender devotion,
to realize its fruition.

So do not despair,
little idea up in the air.
If you catch on,
everyone will share.

If not, you'll become…
Oblivion.

INTERESTING; I AGREE THAT GREAT INSPIRATIONS USUALLY COME FROM THE PIT, WHEN WE'RE AT OUR LOWEST. CAN'T AGREE WITH THE ENDING THOUGH 'CAUSE...WE ALWAYS HAVE THE 'MAJORITY OF ONE' ON OUR SIDE THUS, OBLIVION IS NOT AN OPTION. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Amazing how a little notion can become a movement and some of the best thoughts can fall through the cracks into oblivion. Well penned, Ron. It has wisdom and a wonderful flow.

How fragile the break line between the emergence or surrender of a notion. To erupt and be free or to slide silently into the sea of fractured conception. I really like this Ron you have assigned verse to the birth of an idea. May love and peace be always with you my friend. Jon Michael

I'll remember these lines, next time I need courage to see me through!

Hi there: I really enjoyed this poem and had a chance to reflect on all the decisions I have made in my life. It reaffirmed for me that while I should and want to remember things of the past, I can't waste time on things that I can't change. But that I have to keep trying to improve myself to be able to embrace and accept things of the future. Thanks

Seems everyone else "got" this one, but not me, sorry Ron, but sometimes I can be quite thick...-e-

Ron,

I really enjoyed your "Verge Of Existence" poem. It's so challenging to think back upon the things we've done, but more challenging to contemplate what might have happened had we done the things we didn't do.

Oh yes, the mysterious, elusive, ephemeral idea, as you aptly put it "little idea up in the air", how they slip through our fingers and often amount to nothing. I love the title which is most appropriate to your simple "idea" for want of a better term. Love the rhythms and rhymes. Now your poem exists with no hope of oblivion. Well done.

Eloquently penned, Ron. Amazing that we can sense the "Verge of Existence," but I feel we all -- maybe not all -- but most of us can, and it is an experience like no other.

A mini-whirlwind of lyrical wordplay that leaves the reader aware that without this "idea" phenomena that exists within anyone's grasp, we would have little to anticipate for tomorrow. Holding true to certain principals and concepts is worth while, but to be without ideas that take chances, we'd still be swinging bones ala "2001: A Space Odyssey"

"The birth of a notion".........!!! I love those words!! Your imagery pushes the imagination to the "verge"!!!

Love ya!

Hmmm...thought provoking, to say the least. And I can certainly identify. Isn't it funny how an idea will sometimes just hang there like a word does when its right on the tip of your tongue, almost out of reach? Then, suddenly, it bursts into your consciousness as if it hadn't been toying with you? Well said!
