Once a Week

Not needing to blurt out my daily emotions on the Internet in poetic form, I choose to write a poem once a week as a simple exercise in writing and, hopefully, some creativity.

Once a Week

For some, a poem a day,
keeps their doctor away.

Fresh fruit of the day,
is all I need or seek.

And to do a poem,
just once a week.

There is no catharsis,
for me in what I write.

Just a subject here, or there,
bouncing around like a sprite.

Finding a new word or two,
to make you happy, or blue.

If I can twist a word or tale,
then my check is in the mail.

So, if a poem is what you seek,
just check on me, once a week.

It's nice that you can write on a schedule. I write when my brain feels like it. It needs a good night sleep and some peace and quiet.

It's good to be "regular"!

It's nice that you never give up on poetry. A poem a week is good to keep up with the wonderful work! Always enjoyed reading you!

When the poetic creativity flows....Well why try to stop....Sometimes I write at least a poem a day....On my drives to and from work and will endless stop lights I write up a verse....I didn't write for 20 years....I would probably have enough material for several poetry anthologies....In the Summer of 2005 when I started writing again....On a rainy Saturday afternoon I wrote 3 song poem lyrics and 4 poems....One Saturday night this past Winter I pulled out of my desk drawer an manila envelope of half written work and pieced together enough verses to complete 12 poems....If you get the inspiration just go with the flow......... :-) :-) :-)

I love it! It is the same for me. The words bounce around and invade my dreams and end up on the computer screen.

And check on you once a week I do, for sure. Jerry has a point, however. In my own case, I guess I am a full time writer. I seem to be writing all the time, even in my sleep, especially in the early morning as I am getting ready to make up. It's uncanny. The poems I post daily are roughly three months old. I have a stash of about a hundred newly written poems that I haven't posted yet. Write on.

That is a good thing if you can stick to it, but creativity doesn't always lie dormant all week and just come alive that one day in the week when you call on it for help getting that one poem writ.

Once a week will do,
But twice a night's alright.

Oh, were we talking about writing. In that case, write as you feel.

A poet's writing (once a week, once a month, or every day) is intrinsically woven with personal emotions and noetic experience. How can it be otherwise?

Agreed and I eagerly await your writes!

Love ya!

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
