The efficiency of modern time-saving software and hardware makes red tape even more frustrating sometimes.

Frustration

Required to file a detailed form,

government red tape these days,

making detailing the norm.

Searching should make the job easy,

entering the search terms given by voice,

resulting in finding options a breeze.

Carefully selecting past all the ads,

only government websites will do,

others may be scams by the scads.

Arrived at the website with no trouble,

didn't need to sign in and sign up,

only needed the form on the double.

Finally, found the number to call,

had to wait five minutes for an answer,

not too bad, not too bad at all.

With some effort on the website,

the patient woman directed our search.

Found the form we were looking for,

without leaving us in the lurch.

Said thank you and goodbye to download,

the form. Something commonly done,

and not normally a troublesome one.

It was one of those handy, fill-in forms.

Type or dictate entries lickety-split,

the trouble was there were so many,

took a lot of time to do it.

Nearly finished and running out of wit,

after we marked, "not pregnant,"

the damn thing up and quit.

Tried to print the form to fill in the rest.

Tried to save the form to save the best.

But the free Adobe Acrobat would not comply,

asked us to complete the form, and then try.

Finally, in frustration, I took a screenshot,

page by page of the whole damn lot.

My frustration building by the minute,

I printed the pages with nerves shot.

With all of the pages printed and saved,

I quit Acrobat… It asked me to save!

Lo and behold! I could save it now,

but couldn't get past pregnancy,

or print it before, somehow.

That's technology for you - comes with it a lot more frustration! - I hope you were able to sort everything out.

Hugs,
Sandie

You really did hit the nail on the head with this one. Nothing quite like those endless, tedious forms. Oh how I hate them, especially the tax returns. I don't pay tax on my foreign salary, but still I have to fill out the forms!

Recently I had to lay my beloved ASUS to rest. Then I had to spend $1800.00 for a new Dell with Windows 10. As it is: computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, and taking care of business, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. R

lol. Don't you just love computers ! They are a necessary evil
for me. I still write on napkins occasionally, to remind myself
that I need to de-program. When I go looking for the napkin,
its always where I left it and it doesn't screen mouth me.
I hope you don't need to look up too many forms anymore.
Have a wonderful day. xo

Better to do this without computerized assist, but I have been there too and usually I just give it up and try another time, but if I must be considered pregnant, then I guess I can be pregnant, as long as I don't have to go through the pain of giving birth...:) -e-

There is nothing quite so profound nor final as when a computer says 'No!'
...so much for progress (rolls eyes)...

Oh, wow. I have had problems with Adobe products for 20+ years now, and it wasn't until my supervisor bought me the Adobe suite with all the programs I use in my work did my problems stop. Now, bear in mind, I've not needed to call Adobe for anything since, but that is probably due to my read-access to Blackstone's IT guy who could probably rewrite the Adobe programs if needed. He's Super Mr. IT. I feel for you. Good to read your voice again, even if it is frustrated.
