a poem about a very hard-core kid who was admittedly involved in gang activity among other illegal activities
A pink plastic rose and a ceramic carousel horse long ago broken from it's stand Both offerings precious in the hands of a child Tokens to show respect - maybe From a child not given to gift giving This act by the giver has made them treasures To be cherished in the memory of this teacher

Uniquely special and so dignified with the sense that the teacher receives these gifts and knows the true value behind them. A troubled child's love and respect is hard to gain but when recieved it is precious for sure.
