self explanitory i think--sometimes, life just feels tough

My fist flies –one hit – nothing

A one-second pause, then….

Flailing my arms and legs, All Hell breaks loose

Exhausted, unable to move

The walls close in

This seems to be the way I go at life

Or, is it the way life comes at me?

Clawing and kicking my way along

My breath coming in frantic gasps

Fighting to free myself

Of whatever is closing in

When does it ever get easy?

Will my life ever be mine to just live?

Can’t I have peace without the fight?

I simply don’t want to have to be so strong

honestly, your vision is breathtaking in imagery and metaphorical descriptiveness, loved this line"....Flailing my arms and legs, All Hell breaks loose"... in conjunction to the poem overall, this line speaks a thousand words, you set this poem up, created a pinnicle moment and ended it to perfection, very nice job, mike

Life does tend to be at times a struggle and then there are those times where it seems we are fighting to find that peace you speak of...been there....it does smooth out though...

there's a difference between fighting and struggling ... life can never be free of from struggle but one can transcend the fight against its indifference ...

excellent write, Karen ...

A write that many understand, I too have been at that point, the point when everything just seems to be hard, nothing easy. My pastor once said that those who are trying to live to the best of the knowledge and ability are those that satan seems to come at the hardest...made perfect sense to me, afterall...I am a Christian who always seems to be giving, giving, giving, or sewing, sewing, sewing, when was the reaping going to begin..for I was tired of giving so much and sewing so much...I wanted to recieve and relax for a while...soon this season did cease...I continued to give and sew, but also enjoyed the reaping and not having to be the strong one all the time....pray on my friend for all good things do come to those who endure to the end...this too shall pass, have faith, patience and when your time comes you will be able to look back and pass this wisdom onto someone else who will need it....great write my friend, very heartfelt and full of honest emotion and feelings. Enjoyed!
blessings,
Joyce Bowling

I don't think we are fighting life so much as we are fighting within our ownselves. Things change when we are at peace with ourselves. You are one who will change very soon, becuase you see the need. God Bless, Holly

I felt this way too, and I can relate to what you're going through. Take a few deep breaths and keep on going, it does get easier (I hope!) :)

Karen,
Like Randy said it does get easier as you learn to go with the flow to things you like and to reject those you don't. Don't flail at what doesn't appeal to you just make a fist, square off and smack it where it's most vulnerable. Good Luck and God Bless. One can use all the help they can get these days.

i totally can relate to your words Karen. Lord knows I can. and yes, it does become easier and in the long run peace is acquired from the lessons learned in life and then you simply won't need to be so strong.

always,
randy
