The Book Club Dinner

So graciously I was invited to share my book

My life story, all had read

Some were teachers, all with their own joys and sorrows

All so anxious to hear from me

A glass of Alice White

Dinner prepared and served

We sat around the table

My memoir sitting at every place

So gracious the questions were asked:

“How are your children?”

“Your granddaughter?”

“Is your sister well?”

Desert was served, in honor of my original home

Milky Way Cake so rich and thoughtfully presented

In conclusion, their copies were signed

I had been given a couple of hours of respite

Away from the worries of my own life

To share my life with others

And to have them share a bit of their lives

With me.
