The essence of a being

Is the unseen, untouchable, them

The spirit within

That which touches their soul

The essence of a person

Is that thing that cannot, not be done

It is the drive that pushes and pulls

Sending him in one unwavering direction

The essence of each of us

Is what motivates each step forward

Though Life itself seems against that effort

We are driven, nonetheless, from deep within

karen, this poem reminds me of the type of poetry that is only written upon meditational focus and thought, (I would love to know the inspiration behind this piece,) work that is penned from the very heart, easily distinguishable by the feel of passion,

the clarity of the emotion. this poem swept me into thought, brilliant writing, mike

Great write my friend...there is a fire that burns within us that keeps us striving to achieve our goals in life, for myself there was always a writer deep within waiting to come out, just as I always knew that I wanted to serve the Lord...a devoted Christian awaiting to sing, praise, and work for Him...the two along with the maternal instincts are only part of what makes me who I am....enjoyed this so very much...a thought provoking write that makes one delve within theirself to see what kindles their own fire. Have a great holiday weekend.

I especially am drawn to the last line:

"We are driven, nonetheless, from deep within."

Very profound, my friend.

when the human mind seeks answers, pushes forth ideas, solves problems or contemplates the universe the power that is unleashed is unimaginable. Beautiuful and thought tantalizing write Karen, I like it.

I liked this Karen...if we didn't have the will to push ahead in life we would be failures. Thanks for sharing!
