Conversations:
5:30 AM, With my old dog Willie, recovering from surgery
“Hi there old buddy, lets go out get those old hips moving.”
Willie looks up at me with wise old eyes as he lifts himself from bed
He wags his tail and that speaks volumes
6:00 AM, with our small pony-a shrill whinny speeds my feet as to the barn I go,
Coffee in one hand I retrieve the breakfast demanded of me
“Hang on there Amy, no one will go hungry around here.”
Her tone soon softens as her meal is served.
The big horses whicker softly to greet me saying “hello”
My pat on each nose with a carrot for each
Says, “Good morning, how are you?
Angel, Wings, Banjo and Jazz, you are each so special to me.”
11:00AM with my little sister as I drive into town
Her voice lifts my spirit so worried I’ve been
“How are you, how is Elyssa? Her lucky rock means the world”
“We are fine, I love you so-keep healing we will talk again soon”
2:00 PM with my son, “Look at you!
A new haircut, so handsome, and you got a raise at work”
And then with my daughter, “Wow you mowed the lawn!
“Yeah, we love you mom”
Little, seemingly, mundane conversations sent forth and taken in
Make up every day living and tie us together with family, and friends,
A simple “Hello” with a smile, ”I was thinking of you”, or “I love you”
Repeated time and time again
Are often what make our world go ‘round
