In this land of great privilege for some

The grass seems always greener on their side of the fence

Those others of us with great opportunities at our feet

Often squander those opportunities

In lieu of longing for what is on that other side

So instead of sweating, dreaming, reaching…

And obtaining all that could be ours

We piss and moan our dreams away

Sullen and embittered, negativity permeates our souls

Till we stagnate, locked in embittered fear

Do we not realize, when those who have so much

And act as if that is their personal entitlement

That we are not entitled just to have?

We are, however, entitled to work, to do, to gain

We are entitled to pursue, endeavor, and to be…

The very best of us there is
