When I was just fifteen
"Country Roads" with Fat City,
In the modulation of the bridge,
And the realness of his lyrics
Struck in me, a deep and emotional chord
So began my adoration and devotion
To the man, John Denver,
His words of inspiration,
And the magic as his fingers brought forth
The music of his guitar
From Tennessee to Colorado
On a road trip with my dad
On the old truck radio"Rocky Mountain High"
Settled over the awe I felt
As the majestic Rockies loomed into view
In the tumultuous years that followed
As I fought to raise myself
His music brought me back to grounded
And reminded me with "Matthew,
Of the roots that I came from
With "Windsong" and "Eli's Song"
I was inspired to search for deeper meaning
"Potter's Wheel" and "Rhymes and Reasons"
Caused deep thought as to who I wanted to be
And the beliefs I wanted to hold on to
In the lowest of times
"I Want To Live"
Helped me through many struggles
To do just that
John Denver, I truly miss your spirit on this earth

Had the honor of seeing John Denver in concert with Dolly Parton back in the late '70s. :)
